Majorcan Pearls
Whilst visiting Majorca recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the factory in Manacour where the island's own pearls are made. They have some fabulous pieces in their shop but on the first floor there is a demonstration area. This is set out in sequence so you can follow the process from the first formation of the glass foundation bead to the final knotting technique used on every string of pearls.
It was fascinating. The 'nacre' that the pearls are covered in is made from a secret recipe, but when it is viewed on the finished pearl it is very realistic.
You will see 'Mallorcan' pearls in the tourist shops at around 12 Euros, which may seem quite tempting, but when you see the ones from this particular factory there is a considerable visible difference in the quality, and naturally, the price.
I wonder is Swarovski glass pearls are made in a similar fashion - better go and do some research!
Can crystals aid weightloss?
Truthfully, I am not sure. The only way to find out is to try, some people do report success.
You can wear mookite bracelets which is said to have a gentle effect, but only after wearing continually for a long period. The mookite is a form of jasper and the colour variations can be stunning.
If you are looking for a detox then iolite can be worn as it is believed to balance the metabolism and improve the performance of the liver. I did try this last year and I can report that I did start to feel less sluggish.
Some carry pieces of hemimorphite in their pockets and have also made an elixir from the crystal and drunk sparingly every morning with good results.
IMPORTANT: It must be remembered, however, that not every 'body' is the same and can react differently in any circumstance.
